Year 2's Collaborative Forest Artwork
Year Two worked brilliantly outside in the forest to create this piece of artwork, which now hangs proudly outside the Year 5 and 6 entrance gates. They spent many sunny afternoons, making mud paint, creating their own rubbings and bubble artwork to create this final piece. We were so proud of it we decided to photograph it and have it digitally printed to share with the whole Christ Church family.
A huge well done Year Two!

The Christ Church Art Gallery 2023
Thank you to all the parents and carers that visited our art gallery in July. The children and adults worked really hard to transform the hall into a wonderful display, which showcased all the work that had been completed during our Art Week.
Art Week 2022
'Transformation'
Wow, what a busy couple of weeks we have had at Christ Church! Every class has been busy painting, drawing, sculpting and printing to develop their fundamental skills. We have had a brilliant time.
Once again this year, the children have worked together to create a collaborative piece of artwork. To begin with, the children created a transformational butterfly from coffee filters and pipe cleaners to prove that even the most ordinary of materials can become something extraordinary. Throughout the weeks, the children developed their observational skills and together created a beautiful, kaleidoscope of butterflies based on Damien Hirst’s Mandalas. We think it looks just like his.
Walsall Celebration Event
July 2022
Take a look at the pictures below from the Walsall Arts for All Celebration Carnival, that Year 5 took part in, this year. Throughout June, Year 5 worked hard with professional dance group Keisha Dance and Garry from Off Our Trolley Arts to create their own performance dance, costumes and banners. The children had a wonderful time performing alongside other Walsall schools, especially our partner WAFA school Salisbury Primary to bring a carnival atmosphere to Walsall. Next stop Rio de Janeiro!
Animals
'Maman'
In spring, Year 1 impressed the whole school with their own version of Louise Bourgeois’ ‘Maman’. They worked as a team to sculpt and paint their own huge spider sculpture. If you pop down to our library, you will be able to see Red class’ own ‘Maman’ hanging from the ceiling. It is quite spectacular!
Year 3
In Vogue
This term, Year 3 have amazed the adults at Christ Church with their tie-dye T-shirts. They have designed, experimented and then created their own fabulous T-shirts. Keep your eyes peeled for these fantastic pieces of work on a street near you. We are sure the children will be wearing them all spring!
'Wings of Ambition'
2022
by
Year 6 and our visiting artist Claire Witcomb
Since July 2021, the current Year 6 class have collaborated with professional artist Claire Witcomb to create a sculptural piece of artwork for our school.
Since starting the project, the Year 6 children have been at the forefront. The children wished to create a piece that would inspire their fellow pupils and depict their ambitions for the future. Claire, who works with recycled materials, worked alongside the children’s original ideas and together they have created a magical piece of artwork that is now proudly on display in our school. Each feather has been carefully constructed and decorated from clear, recycled plastic bottles, which have been kindly donated by the Christ Church community.
In December 2021, Christ Church were proud to exhibit, ‘Wings of Ambition’ at Darlaston Town Hall’s, Walsall Arts for All Exhibition. Whilst visiting the exhibition, the Year 6 children were overjoyed to not only see their hard work on display but to also see local children’s artwork too. You can see from the comments section of the exhibition that our piece made a great impression.
Well done Year 6, you have created a masterpiece!
Art Week 2021
We had a fantastic week, learning all about different artists and taking inspiration from them to help us create our own masterpieces.
