This half term, we will be focusing on developing mathematicians who have a deep understanding of the mathematical concepts alongside their reasoning and problem solving skills. We focus on developing the children’s love of learning and thirst for a challenge in order for them the take autonomy over their own learning and progress. As much as possible; maths is linked to real life contexts to ensure the purpose for learning the skills is clear. Beginning with place value, we move on to the four operations, fractions, and measurement. We ensure to constantly revisit previously taught concepts in order to embed them in and build upon our understandings as the year progresses.
