English

During our first week in Rainbow group we have been writing colourful sentences using our colourful semantics blocks.

We have been identifying who, what doing and what in our sentences.

The boy is flying a kite.

The girl is eating an apple.

The Smartest Giant in Town

by Julia Donaldson

Our focus text is The Smartest Giant in Town. We will be writing descriptive sentences about the Giant and identifying who and what is in the story.

We loved the story so much that we invented our own giants. The richest giant in town, the kindest giant in town and the sassiest giant in town!

Instructions

We have been learning about instructional texts. We followed instructions to make a fruit salad and a jam sandwich. We then wrote instructions for making a leaf man. Our final set of instructions were making magical giant potions. Take a look at our fun learning time!

The Magic Paintbrush

We are a reading a Chinese folktale 'The Magic Paintbrush'. We have been thinking about the main character, Ho and his thoughts and feelings throughout the story.

We completed drama activities to help us with our characterisation work.

Chinese New Year

We have been researching information about  Chinese New Year celebrations.

Marshmallows

Our focus is 'overcoming the monster.' We are watching the short film 'Marshmallows'. We have been learning about adjectives (purple arrows) and used them to describe the monster in the story.

We have also been using adjectives to describe the story setting.
